You say what? Lavosh crackers are a traditional unleavened bread, or otherwise known as Armenian Flat Bread. Lavosh is pronounced LAH-voshe. These crackers are super thin, super easy to make, and super addictive. My daughter and I have been snacking on them all afternoon. You can make them with any sort of topping you like, but traditionally they are topped with sesame seeds, sea salt or cracked pepper.

OMG! These are delicious!!! I brought this recipe along with GFDF Lemon Cupcakes with Blueberry Frosting to the GFAF Expo in Chicago this weekend. I made the same amount of samples that I make for every trade show that I have done in the past 7 years. I always have leftovers and try to send plates of goodies home with visitors that pass by my booth. This year was different.
This past weekend my baby girl officially became a toddler. I have a 2 year old….how did that happen? As I am sure many of you can relate to, 2 year old’s are quite aware that their birthday is coming up. The week before her party she was constantly asking to practice singing Happy Birthday and blowing out her candles.
You can take the Gluten and the Dairy out of the cupcakes but with Gluten Free Mama’s Recipes and Flour Blends you cannot take the Taste out of the cupcake. You will be as delighted as the 7500 guests that walked through the doors at the GFAF Expo last weekend in Chicago. Our booth was surrounded by taste testers waiting in line to taste our mini GFDF Lemon Cupcakes and our mini Strawberry Cupcakes.
Sometimes I just don’t know what to make for dinner. At that point my go to is breakfast for dinner. My 2 year loves breakfast food; who doesn’t like fried dough covered in maple syrup right! Recently, she has been switching from pancakes to waffles. Probably because I cut them into little sticks that are easy for dipping.
Gluten Free Mama has teamed up it with fellow gluten free friend and cookbook author to introduce to you her new allergy free cookbook as well as offer you a great holiday sale. Dr. Peggy Parker, a traditionally trained Naturopathic Physician has written an excellent cookbook, OMG! That’s Allergy Free?. She calls it the Ultimate gourmet guide to delicious wheat free, dairy free, sugar free gluten free food.
Gluten Free Mama’s Cupcake Wars Well at least Mama’s Version. Ha! My daughter Lexie and I have been watching Cupcake Wars on the Food Network. I am always critiquing the cupcakes or agreeing with certain styles. I am constantly playing along, deciding what I would do if in that situation. My daughter and I have a lot of fun guessing which ones will win. Lexie says, “Mom you should go on cupcake wars!” I say no, with my health I wouldn’t have the stamina. Then she says, “How about we do our own cupcake wars just for fun?” I was intrigued, so we chose the “Holiday Theme”. On cupcake wars, the contestants are given a theme and are required to...

Sometimes it is the simple things in life that make me happy, like chocolate chip cookies and a tall glass of cold milk. Are you a cookie dough eater or a cookie eater??? I think I am both! So are my kids. Against the rule of not eating raw eggs, we still enjoy a spoonful of cookie dough every time we make cookies. Then of course we have to lick the bowl too!
In a medium bowl combine flour, sugar, salt and xanthan gum. Make a well in center. Add partially melted butter, shortening, egg white and cold water. Cut flour into liquid ingredients with fork or pastry cutter until well blended. Use lightly floured hands to incorporate the rest of flour.
Is it a coffee cake or a bread? Some will call it a coffee cake, but I have to call it a bread. It uses a yeast bread base, so therefore it is a bread, in my opinion. However, many will who try it will call it a coffee cake. Either way, it is delicious!
You are in for a treat today! Try these delicious Chocolate Striped Butter Cookies. Easy to make and very delicious. Kids love them! They remind me of the Keebler Fudge Striped Cookies. My favorite way to eat those as a child was straight from the freezer. Yum!
Winter Wonderland… (Mama’s Eggnog Cupcake with Eggnog Frosting)
It broke my heart when we walked by the Girl Scouts selling cookies this year. It has never been an issue in the past, but now that Lexie is almost 7, I see the disappointment in her eyes when sherealizes that they are not gluten free. The sweet little girl she is says, “Mom, we should get some for Cassie, because she really likes them.” I respond, “Lexie, that probably wouldn’t be fair since you can’t eat them too.” Lexie in her sweet little voice, “That’s okay mom, you can just make me some that are gluten free.” Being the sucker I am, oh, I mean the good mom that I am, I told her I would.
Make your parties a success this season by making up some hot Spinach Cheese Dip. Dips are known as the “social food” because everyone gathers around food and visits during the holidays. If your dip is an extra cheesy one you are sure to keep the conversation going for a long time!
Stuffing is one of the most asked for recipes. Enjoy this great recipe from one of my wonderful gluten free friends. Jess McNeil was so kind to bless us with her favorite gluten free stuffing recipe. I have to say that Jess is one of my most “enthusiastic” gluten free friends. She always brings a smile to my face. I hope that her recipe will bring a smile to your face.

Gingerbread houses are a tradition in my family. I started making this a tradition when my first born, Gracie, was nearly 2 years old. I can still remember the innocence she had as she placed each candy onto the house, not in any particular place for any rhyme or reason. When the kids were young I had to be very careful about when I told them we were going to do the houses. If I wasn’t careful I would pay the consequences of hearing constant nagging and whining until I just would drop everything to get them started.
Lefse is a holiday tradition I was introduced to when I married into the Carlyle family. Both of my husband Chris’ parents are 50% Norwegian. Therefore, my oldest two children are 25% Norwegian. Grandma Bette has been making Lefse for our family for years at Christmas time. Lefse is a traditional Norwegian
Every year my family packs up and lives in a Southern California hotel room for 4 weeks for my husband’s job. To some this may sound like a dream come true; eating out every day, housekeeping makes your bed and enjoying 75 degree weather when it’s in the teens at home. There of course are some perks,
Make the with Italian Sausage or Turkey Sausage, Easy to Make and a Fan Favorite! Well this is my first “New” recipe that I have created since my brain surgery in November. This was a modified recipe, based off a sausage roll my mom made using Bisquick growing up. I made a few changes, using Mama’s Pancake Mix instead (to be gluten free), using an Italian Sausage verses the pork breakfast sausage, made a turkey version with added spices for those who don’t like pork sausage, (like my kids), and added green onions. Make your favorite dipping sauce to go with them or use Honey BBQ sauce for the Pork Italian Sausage version and for the Turkey Version add 1...

Cottage Dill Bread, another classic bread recipe that is perfect anytime of day. This is a perfect bread to serve at breakfast or brunch, or make sandwiches with it for lunch. Typically, Cottage Dill Bread is made in a round shape. To achieve the round shape for gluten free breads, bake in a 7 or 8 inch round casserole dish. A 8 inch round Corningware Dish works great or you could used a round springform pan, or deep sided pie pan.
This is a great summer side dish for using up all that zucchini you have been growing all summer. It’s easy to make! The recipe calls for Herbs De Provence. Herbs de Provence is a mixture of dried herbs that are typical in Provence, France. It includes a mixture of marjoram, rosemary, thyme, oregano and in some american versions may include lavender.

Okay…if you like hummus, roasted veggies and flatbread then you are in for a treat! Two words to describe this interesting take on pizza is DE-LISH. No seriously, it is. The Kalamata olives and feta make it extra special too. Make it without the feta and it is dairy free. The only thing that I didn’t like about this pizza is that I had no one to share it with. Now I am just going to have to make it again so that my friends can enjoy.

G-Free Oatmeal Raspberry BarsDelicious! One word describes this tasty treat. I think this Raspberry Bar heads to the top of my favorites list. Gracie, my oldest daughter and I, tried to convince my other daughters and their friends that they would not like these bars. Unfortunately, our tactics did not work and we eventually had to give in and share. There is only one slice of these delicious bars setting on my beautiful glass cake plate. Now I am left to figure out a place where I can hide it so that I can enjoy it tomorrow.
This is Mama’s favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie! What’s great about it too, not only is it easy to make, it’s moist, has oatmeal for added nutrition and texture and it’s EGG FREE! I am always getting asked about egg free cookies or recipes. I make this and bring it to most of my GF Trade Shows and it is always a hit
I have teamed up with G-free Foodie for doing recipe conversions on their website. I also accept them on my website as well. Anyway, about a month ago, a recipe came in called Lemon Fig Cake. Hmmm…I sat on this one for a while. Sounded interesting. Figs??? The truth is the only time I have every had a fig was about 3 years ago at a Christmas party. Someone made Cream Cheese Stuffed Figs. They were actually pretty good.

This Christmas celebration we bring to you a traditional German Christmas Cookie, Lebkuchen Cookies. Actually, it is referred to as a biscuit, but we americans refer to it as a cookie.
