Mama’s Apple Crumble Scones are a cinch to make using Mama’s Scone Mix. These scones have apple pieces in every bite mixed with that delicious crumble topping and vanilla glaze. The only word that describes these is Delicioius!
Mama’s Scone Mix comes in a 2lb bag and makes 3 batches of delicious scones. There are three recipes included on the back of the package and you can find more using it in Mama’s cookbook, In the Kitchen with Gluten Free Mama.

Ingredients
- 6 Tbsp. butter or dairy free margarine
- 1 egg
- 2 cups Mama’s Scone Mix
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. lemon zest, optional
- 1 – 1 1/2 cups apples, diced
- 1/3 cup heavy cream, (Dairy Free use dairy free milk, rice, nut, soy, or even coconut cream)

- 3/4 cup Mama’s Almond or Coconut Blend Flour
- 1/4 brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup butter or dairy free margarine, room temp
- Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1-2 Tbp. milk
- Mix together until drizzle consistency.

- 1 3/4 cup Mama’s Scone Mix
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1- 1 1/2 cups apples, diced
- 1 tsp. lemon zest, optional
- 3/4 cup cream
- [b]Crumble[/b]
- 3/4 cup Mama’s Almond or Coconut Blend Flour
- 1/4 butter or dairy free margarine
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- Mix together to combine.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- In a mixing bowl, cream butter. Scrape down sides of bowl. Add egg and mix to combine. Scrape down sides of bowl again and add scone mix, zest, cinnamon and apples. With mixer running on low speed, slowly poor in cream. Mix until well combined.
- With lightly floured hands, place dough on ungreased baking sheet. Sprinkle lightly with GF flour or a little extra scone mix and press out into a circle about 3/4 inch thick, leaving slightly higher in the center. Baste with 1-2 Tbsp. cream.
- In a small bowl, combine crumble ingredients. With a fork, work butter into ingredients. Sprinkle over the top of the scones, pressing lightly. With a large knife slice into 6-8 slices, keeping circle intact.
- Bake for 28-30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before enjoying. Drizzle with vanilla glaze if desired.
