It’s that time of year again. You know school is back in session, when kids are getting sick and thus passing it on to the adults. Whether you have a sore throat, cough, or sick tummy, Mama’s Jazzed Up Gluten Free Chicken Broth is sure to soothe your throat and settle the stomach too. It’s easy to make too!
In fact, today, I have a little one home sick. Her throat hurts so bad and has been brought to tears a few times. She says, “Mommy, can you make me your special broth?” Also, lately I have been a little nauseous and it has really helped settle my stomach, when food doesn’t sound good at all. Mix up a big batch of my Spice Mix and store it in an airtight container for future use.
Mama’s GF Chicken Soup Spice Mix
Ingredients
4 Tbsp. GF chicken bouillon powder *
4 tsp. parsley
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. celery salt (Optional, it’s great with it, but not a must have)
Directions
Mix together a batch of Mama’s Gluten Free Chicken Soup Spice Mix. Store in an air tight container
Gluten Free Mama’s Jazzed Up Chicken Broth
Ingredients
1 ¼ cups GF chicken broth
1 heaping tsp. Mama’s Chicken Soup Spice Mix
Directions
Measure out 1 1/4 cups chicken broth, and pour into a microwave safe large mug with a handle or soup bowl. Add 1 heaping scoop of Mama’s Chicken Spice Mix. Microwave for 1 minute 40 seconds. Stir well. Serve.
GFM Tip It works great to buy the boxes of chicken broth, organic if you can, and then you can easily measure out your broth, then store the extra in the refrigerator. Then you have extra broth for later in the day to use for another batch, or to use in a dish later.
GFM Tip Chicken bouillon is not all Gluten Free so look at labels. I used Herbox this time, it’s by Hormel. There are also kinds that are MSG Free and Gluten Free. Look at your health food store for organic bouillon if desires, just at least make sure it is gluten free.
You can also use Mama’s GF Chicken Soup Spice Mix for Ramen Noodles. Boil rice sticks or rice noodles just like you would ramen noodles. Drain off some water into your soup bowl, and then drain the remainder off into the sink. Add 1 heaping tsp. of mix to your noodle bowl and stir. Yum!
